Russia's EuroChem opens EUR 65 mln ammonia terminal in Sillamae, Estonia

A subsidiary of Russian fertilizer maker EuroChem Group AG opened an ammonia terminal costing 65 mln euros at the northeastern Estonian port of Sillamae in December, informed LETA/BNS accoding to the INTERFAX.

The terminal with a capacity to handle one million tons per year is meant for the shipment of ammonia produced at a plant in Kingisepp, Russia that opened last year.

The launch of the plant in Kingisepp, 25 kilometers from the Estonian border, enabled EuroChem to completely cover its internal ammonia needs. The company also sold 240,000 tons of ammonia from the new plant to third parties in 2019.

The design capacity of the 900 mln US dollar (EUR 820 mln) plant is 2,700 tons of urea and ammonia per day.

The EuroChem Group AG holding EuroChem Terminal Sillamae AS has been active in the port of Sillamae since late 2006, when it opened a 14 mln euro chemical products terminal there.
