Port of Tallinn handled 1.7 mln tons of goods and commodities in September

Ports of the Estonian state-owned company Port of Tallinn handled 1.7 mln tons of goods and commodities in September, which marks a year-on-year decrease of 5 %, and nine-month freight flows were 7.9% smaller than a year earlier, totaling 15.7 mln tons, writes LETA/BNS.

The decline in cargo handling volumes in September was mainly a result of the decreased liquid cargoes handled by the Muuga port, while mixed cargo handling soared 59 %, Port of Tallinn said on Tuesday.

Freight flows in the first nine months of the year fell by 1.3 mln tons or 7.9 % to 15.7 mln tons mostly due to a decrease in liquid cargoes, whereas the volumes of bulk goods and rolling stock increased somewhat.

Freight ships called at ports of Port of Tallinn on 166 occasions in September and on 1,338 occasions in the nine months.
