Container Freight from the Port of Fuzhou to Be Shipped Through Estonia

The representatives the Port of Tallinn, Alekon Cargo and the Estonian Railways had a meeting at Fuzhou with the heads of the regional representation of Sinotrans, a Chinese state owned leading transportation and logistics enterprise, in order to discuss channelling the Port of Fuzhou outbound cargo flows through Estonia.

As indicated by Mr. Erkki Veismann, CEO of Alekon Cargo, the meeting held in productive atmosphere further verified previous agreements, according to which Alekon was granted the right to provide shipping agency services for Sinotrans shipments in the Baltic Sea region. “During the meeting held in the framework of our co-operation agreement we were able to point out great opportunities to achieve tangible results in the near future, when the containers freight forwarded by Sinotrans leaving the Port of Fuzhou will be routed through Estonia," Mr. Veismann explained.

Sinotrans, a major Chinese logistics enterprise, is involved in organising maritime, land and air transport, and providing shipping agency, storage and terminal operations services.

Sinotrans, being the owner of a fleet of liquid bulk and bulk carriers, container and RORO vessels, has more than 700 subsidiaries.

Sinotrans, Alekon Cargo, the Port of Tallinn and the Estonian Railways signed a co-operative agreement in Peking in April, according to which the Baltic Sea region transit shipments of Sinotrans will be routed through the Port of Tallinn in co-operation with the Estonian Railways.
