Finnish investors scouting again

On 15 December 2011, an investment seminar organised by the Estonian Logistics Cluster for the Finnish entrepreneurs interested in investing in Estonia was held for the fourth time already. The seminar, organised in close cooperation between the Cluster, Embassy of Finland, Enterprise Estonia, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs introduced the opportunities presented by our industrial parks and harbours to the potential investors.

The seminar and instructive tour, taking visitors to the Paldiski and Muuga harbours, Paldiski and Keila industrial parks and the logistics park of Vana-Narva road, can be considered as a next step taken by the Logistics Cluster in the action plan for engaging foreign investments with the aim of creating one thousand new jobs in Estonia with at least 50,000 euro value added per employee.
According to Mr. Illimar Paul, the development manager of the Cluster, a partial relocation of the manufacturing facilities of the Finnish companies into Estonia would provide the companies significant opportunities to increase their competitiveness. “Maintaining and increasing the security, rate and flexibility of provision promised to the customers, the relocation of the manufacturing to Estonia would allow for the reduction of total costs and increase the return on assets,” Mr. Paul elaborated.

The seminar featured presentations on investment climate and economy made by Raul Allikivi from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, Kristiina Omri from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eva Maran from the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Valdar Liive from Enterprise Estonia, and the companies and cooperation partners of the Estonian Logistics Cluster.
