First container train arrived at Sillamäe

The first container train arrived in the port of Sillamäe February 13, 2019. Transportation of containers by rail route Tartu- Sillamäe-Tartu was born in cooperation between the railway company Operail and Silsteve.

A new way of transportation makes it easier for the producers in southern Estonia to send their production to the international market.

Multifunctional Terminal Silsteve delivers the containers from the railway station of the port of Sillamäe on the container ships and back.

The first container goods, transported by rail, were mainly the timber and wood products, hereinafter the nomenclature of container goods is planned to diversify.
