Estonia will admit people with no symptoms arriving from the European Union

Estonia will admit people with no symptoms arriving from the European Union, the Schengen area or the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from 1 June.

As of today, citizens and residents of Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland will be able enter Estonia without having to undergo a 14-day quarantine period after they arrive.

Anyone may enter Estonia without quarantine arriving from a country where the relative coronavirus infection rate is below 15. This means that no more than 15 people per 100 000 inhabitants are infected in the last 14 days. Arriving from such a country the person must have spent there at least 14 days, i.e during the incubation period of the COVID-19 virus before entering Estonia.

Anyone arriving in Estonia from a country with a higher infection rate must self-isolate for two weeks on arrival. Information on countries and quarantine requirements is updated every Friday on the kriis.ee and vm.ee (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) websites.

Main restrictions in Estonia

Main rule – 2 + 2

People should comply with a so-called 2 + 2 rule, i.e. maintain at least 2-metre distance from other people in public places and indoors (except at home). Public places include e.g. shops and shopping centres, restaurants, beaches, promenades, hiking trails etc. There may stay up to two persons together in a public place. This restriction does not apply to families, and to people performing public tasks.

Masks

Masks are not mandatory in Estonia. Some bus and/or flight operators may require on international routes the passengers to wear masks (or scarves in some cases) while onboard, but this is not mandatory when travelling in public transportation within Estonia.

Museums and exhibitions

For museums and exhibitions, visiting groups of more than 10 persons are allowed starting from June 1. The 2 + 2 rule however must be observed whenever possible.
