Port of Tallinn's May passenger numbers increased by 5.1%

Altogether 938,758 passengers passed through the ports of Estonia's state-owned Port of Tallinn in May 2016, 5.1% more than in May 2015 and the biggest number for any other month of May so far, informs LETA/BNS.

As usual, the number of passengers was the biggest on the Tallinn-Helsinki route, 759,574. Passengers traveling between Tallinn and Stockholm numbered 87,851 and passengers on the Tallinn-St. Petersburg route 16,177, the port company said.

Cruise passengers numbered 75,017, making up 8% of the total number of passengers.

The listed Estonian shipper Tallink Grupp served 58%, the Finnish shippers Viking Line and Eckero Line respectively 17% and 15%, and the Russian shipper St. Peterline 2% of the passengers of Port of Tallinn in May.

Of ships, Tallink's Star carried 159,313 passengers, followed by Viking Line's Viking XPRS with 159,166 and Tallink's Superstar with 155,008 passengers.

The ports received 520 visits by passenger ships during the month.
