Number of Port of Tallinn passengers grew by 5.5% in October

Altogether 786,919 passengers passed through the ports of Estonia's state-owned Port of Tallinn in October 2015, which is 5.5% more than in October 2014 and also the best result of all time in October, informs LETA/BNS.

In the first 10 months of the year, the port company served more than 8.3 million passengers.

According to chief of marketing and communications at the company Sirle Arro the growing number of passengers suggests that this year the company will have a record result. While last year more than 9.5 million passengers passed through the ports of Port of Tallinn, this year the company expects passenger numbers to total about 9.7 million, she added.

As usual, the number of passengers was the biggest on the Tallinn-Helsinki route, totaling 687,028. Passengers traveling between Tallinn and Stockholm numbered 81,960 and passengers on the Tallinn-St. Petersburg route, 10,204. Cruise ships brought the last 7,591 cruise tourists of the season to Estonia in October 

The listed Estonian shipper Tallink Grupp served 62%, Viking Line 19%, Eckero Line 17% and St. Peterline 1% of passengers in October.

The ports received 448 visits by passenger ships including five cruise ships during the month.
