In the first 11 months of the year, the port company served more than nine million passengers.
The bigger number of passengers suggests that this year the company will surpass its previous yearly record posted for 2014 by approximately 3%, Sirle Arro, chief of marketing and communications at Port of Tallinn, said. The company expects the number of passengers carried to cross the 9.7 million mark by year-end, she added.
As usual, the number of passengers was the biggest on the Tallinn-Helsinki route, totaling 600,204. Passengers traveling between Tallinn and Stockholm numbered 66,453 and passengers on the Tallinn-St. Petersburg route, 10,493.
The listed Estonian shipper Tallink Grupp served 62%, the Finnish shippers Viking Line and Eckero Line 20% and 16%, respectively, and St. Peterline 2% of passengers in November.
The ports received 426 visits by passenger ships during the month.
