The subsidiary company of Port of Tallinn, TS Laevad OÜ, has published a call for tenders to purchase ferries

TS Laevad OÜ, a subsidiary company of Port of Tallinn, published a tender notice to purchase ferries in the Estonian Procurement Register on 20 June. The due date for submitting applications for the participation in the tender is 28 July 2014.

In accordance with the decision of the government of the Republic of Estonia, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications is to announce a public procurement to determine the carrier company on the Rohuküla–Heltermaa and Kuivastu-Virtsu ferry routes between the mainland and islands for 2016–2025. By the autumn of 2016, the participant of the public procurement shall have to guarantee the availability of four ships necessary for operating the above routes and offering the service equivalent to the vessels cruising between the islands and the mainland at the moment.

Pursuant to the government’s decision, the Council of Port of Tallinn has decided to participate in the tender for the organisation of shipping traffic between the islands and the mainland. At the same time, the Council has authorised the Management Board of Port of Tallinn to participate in the tender, using the subsidiary company to be established for that purpose.

TS Laevad OÜ published the tender notice to purchase ferries in the Estonian Procurement Register on Friday, 20 June 2014. The due date for submitting applications for the participation in the tender is 28 July 2014.

This is a two-stage tender: first the qualification of the applicants is assessed. At the following stage, negotiations to purchase the ferries are to be held.

Through its subsidiary company TS Laevad , the Port of Tallinn is looking to purchase 4 (four) new or used steel hull passenger ferries with an ice class, which cannot be older than 84 months at time of delivery. The ferries are to be used in coastal waters of Estonia on Rohuküla-Heltermaa and Virtsu-Kuivastu lines. The ferries are to be made for passengers, cars and cargo with a capacity of min 150 cars and min 600 passengers (600 seats min, incl. min 400 seats indoors). The deadline for the delivery of ferries is 1 August 2016.

Port of Tallinn (AS Tallinna Sadam) is Estonia’s biggest complex of cargo and passenger ports, whose shares are fully owned by the Republic of Estonia.

On 19 June 2014, TS Laevad OÜ, the subsidiary company of Port of Tallinn , was recorded in the Business Register. TS Laevad OÜ was established for the purpose of purchasing ferries in order to participate in the tender for the organisation of shipping traffic between the islands and the mainland.
