EVR Cargo transportation volume was the highest in the past half year in October
The cargo volume transported by the Estonian state-owned railway cargo transport company EVR Cargo in October 2013 reached according to initial data 1.3 million tonnes, which exceeds the volume of October of last year by 1.7 percent and is the best result in the past half a year.
The moderate increase of cargo volumes of other cargo groups has compensated the slightly decreased oil shale transport and redistribution of mineral liquid fuels transport, noted EVR Cargo board chairman Ahto Altjõe. In the container cargo sphere, the growth has been 83% as compared to last year. The container transport volume was in October 5,959 TEU.
Mineral liquid fuel transport fell 21% to 385,000 tonnes, oil shale transport fell by 12% to 279,000 tonnes; fertiliser transport grew by 30% to 301,000 tonnes and chemical goods transport by 109% to 119,000 tonnes.
In the first ten months of this year, EVR Cargo has transported 13.1 million tonnes of cargo, by 15 percent less than at the same time last year. Mineral liquid fuel transport fell 11% to 5.6 mln tonnes, oil shale transport fell by 19% to 2.36 mln tonnes; fertiliser transport fell by 4.8% to 2.46 mln tonnes and chemical goods transport fell by 47% to 0.91 mln tonnes.
Container cargo transport grew by 19% to 50,800 TEU.
