Forty Singaporean Journalists Paid a Visit to the Muuga Harbour

The Estonian Logistics and Transit Association and the Port of Tallinn hosted the Singapore Press Club delegation at the Muuga Harbour, presenting Estonian economy and logistics sector to its members.

According to Mr. Patrick Daniel, the president of the Singapore Press Club and the editor in chief of Singapore Press Holding (SPH), a leading media enterprise in South-East Asia, the visitors found the trip to be most captivating and exotic. “Up until today I knew nothing about Estonia. Today, due to our visit to the Muuga Harbour, we were given an excellent overview of the whole economy and transportation sector, not to mention the harbour itself," Daniel approved.

As stated by Sven Ratassepp, the Chief Communications Officer of the Port of Tallinn, the Singaporean media people were the most cheerful and enthusiastic group that has been to the Muuga Harbour lately. “Their interest in the activities and developments of our sector was genuine and sincere, and it has been a while since so many questions were asked after a presentation,” Ratassepp delighted.

Along the traditions of the Singapore Press Club, they are picking a new spot each year where to go on an Annual Goodwill Mission to get acquainted with local conditions, economy and culture. “The candidates for current year’s destination were South-Korea and Estonia”, said Andres Valgerist, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Estonian Logistics and Transit Association.

As indicated by Valgerist, the choice of the destination was most likely influenced by the Estonia’s state visit to Singapore in last November, during which the Estonian Logistics and Transit Association organised first Estonia-Singapore Business Forum was held, where Estonia was promoted as an attractive destination for both business people and tourists.

Singapore Press Club was founded in 1971 and is uniting the professionals of the Singapore media sector - journalists, communication and public relations managers, consultants as well as university teachers.
