Container terminal started in Sillamäe

On 26th of November to the berth No. 12 in the port of Sillamäe arrived operated by Maersk Line container vessel Bomar Victory. The vessel brought 50 TEU of empty containers and took aboard 156 TEU containers with cargo.

Visit of Bomar Victory means that Sillamäe CT, operated by multifunctional terminal Silsteve, is open for the container handling. The first cargo, which was sent to the markets in the Far and Middle East was mainly the export production of the Estonian forest industry.

The infrastructure, berths and technology of SCT provide the capacity of the Terminal for today up to 300 000 TEU per year. Natural and technical conditions do not set any restrictions for the further development of the Terminal. Port of Sillamäe believes that they are ready to start the regular freight traffic in the first quarter of the year 2016.

Possible container cargo is both Estonian export and import, but also transit cargo which is currently transported by tankers and bulkers.
